Autonomous Drilling Systems - Safe to Board
This course focuses on the Safe to Board (STB) process, a critical safety framework for ensuring safe access and interaction within Autonomous Drilling areas. It covers safe entry procedures, lighting configurations, and coordination between field personnel and remote operations to support informed decision-making.
This course focuses on the Safe to Board (STB) process, a critical safety framework designed to ensure personnel can safely access and interact within a Blasthole Drilling Pattern or Autonomous Drilling Area.
Learners will be introduced to industry best practices that govern safe entry procedures, operational awareness, and risk control when working around Autonomous drilling equipment.
You will develop an understanding of Safe to Board lighting configurations and how visual safety indicators support decision-making before approaching a drill. The training emphasizes recognizing operational conditions, verifying safe access status, and understanding the coordination required between field personnel and remote control operations.
The course also guides you through the practical Safe to Board workflow, including communication protocols with Drill Control and the correct procedures for safely approaching and boarding a drill.
By completing this training, participants will be able to apply Safe to Board principles confidently, ensuring safe personnel interaction within Autonomous drilling environments while maintaining operational continuity.
ADS40.1 – Safe to Board Lightning
This module explain the Safe to Board process, which is a best practices guideline for accessing and interacting in a Blasthole Drilling Pattern or Autonomous Drilling Area.
ADS40.2 – Safe to Board Process
In this module you will learn how to apply your knowledge of Safe to Board lighting configurations and communicate
with Drill Control to safely access a Blasthole Drilling Pattern or Autonomous Drilling Area and board a drill.
